From: Boyd Bailey Ministries
James 3:13 "Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom."
Wise living keeps the realization and understanding of God in the vortex of your thinking because His awareness is centerpiece. What would Jesus do becomes a way of life. His desires, His motivations, His thoughts and His character become paramount in your thinking. This leads to wise living because it is based on Christ-like living.
God’s ways are the path to wisdom. The wisdom of God is unfathomable but He is willing to share it with us. In fact, His preference is to shower His children with raindrops of wisdom. He delights in imparting His game plan for living. However, it takes our daily pursuit for the wisdom of God to penetrate our thinking.
Wise living defaults to a Biblical worldview of thinking. The ways of God are revealed as you understand and apply the Bible. The Bible teaches that you serve and worship a personal God. There are no details of your life of which He is not aware. He knows how many hairs are on your head!
This understanding of His personal concern for you invites you to have security and confidence in Him. This is wise living based on the character of God. There are right ways and wrong ways to live life. All of the ways of the Lord are right. Furthermore, His desire is for His followers to treat others as He treats them. This is a high standard, but this is the road of wisdom.

Pursuing Your Dreams
From: New Life Daily Devotionals - Steve Arterburn
Ephesians 1:18 "May He enlighten your innermost vision that you may know the great hope to which He has called you..."
If the Lord has placed a dream in your heart, don't wait for external events to grant you "permission." Don't allow yourself to be hampered by fear, but do take a look at your motives.
The most important thing you can do with your dreams is to examine them in light of who gets the glory in the process… you or God? Cultivate the dreams born of the Spirit. You're happiest and most fulfilled when you're doing what God has designed you to do.
He knows your frame, talents, skills, and desires. If you pursue the dreams He plants in your heart, I can promise you'll find more abundant life than you ever thought possible.

The Right Use of Time
From: Today God Is First - Os Hillman
1 Thessalonians 5:17 "Rejoice always, never cease praying, render constant thanks, such is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
The amount of time we spend with anyone or any activity is a good indicator of the value we place on that person or activity. Time equates to money for some. For others it can be a cruel dictator. It is the physical evidence of what is at the center of our lives.
People can generally make time for what they choose to do; it is not really the lack of available time, but the will to set a priority for the time they have. The wrong use of time can lead to misery. The right use of time can result in fulfillment.
"You need to take time to turn to God. Do not pray only when you have set aside time to do. The busier you are, the more you must practice turning to God. If you wait until the time is convenient, there is little doubt that you will end up spending little time with God. Try to come before God both in the morning and the evening. Pray during and between all your other jobs as much as you can. You cannot retire too much from the mindless chatter of the world. Learn to steal this time in little snatches, and you will find these moments the most precious part of your day", said Francois de Fenelon, a sixteenth century Christian leader.
What does the evidence of time tell you about yourself? Today, give God the time needed to develop a relationship that is meaningful for both of you.

He Shows Up All The Time
From: The Purpose Driven Life Ministries
John 4:10 "Jesus replied, 'If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask Me, and I would give you living water.'"
Did you know that Jesus shows up in your life all the time? The Bible says He's around you all the time; His spirit is there but you don't recognize Him. He shows up in other people and what they say to you. He shows up in opportunities. He shows up in problems. He shows up in difficulties, but you don't know it because you are not paying attention.
Actually, this is really common. It happens in the Bible. People fail to recognize Jesus. For instance, Jesus once asked a Samaritan woman for a drink of water. Not knowing who Jesus is, she engages Him in a religious debate. Jesus says, "If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask Me, and I would give you living water."
This happens to us. We don't recognize Jesus when He's around us. The Bible says He's always near, but we don't listen. We don't tune in to His presence.
Here’s why we need to pay attention to Jesus. He will focus us on the things that are truly important and that will change the way we handle every relationship, task, and circumstance in our lives.
When you learn to live in light of eternity, your values change. You use your time and money more wisely. You place a higher premium on relationships and character instead of fame or wealth or achievements or even fun. Your priorities are reordered. Keeping up with trends, fashions, and popular values just doesn’t matter as much anymore.

The Greatest Gift Of All
From: Powerpoint Daily Devotionals
John 1:1,14 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh."
Every single person faces darkness from time to time. Whether it's the darkness of failure, the darkness of sin, or if it's the darkness of sorrow, it's clear that darkness is all around us. And we wonder: Will the darkness conquer? Will the night win? Will these dark days prevail?
Because of Jesus Christ, the answer is no! His light has come into the world and shone in our hearts. And because of Christ in you, there's hope and there's life! This same Christ is coming again with the glory of the Father and the holy angels to set all things in order. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords!
Yes, the world is in darkness… intellectual darkness, political darkness, moral darkness. But we who once sat in that darkness have seen a great light.
That night when Jesus was born, when God became a baby, when the infinite became an infant, the light of God came and dwelt with us. The smile of God was in that baby's creased and dimpled chin. God's arms reaching out to the world were in his tiny little fingers. And the love of God was wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.
Jesus, the Light of the world and the hope of all humanity, was born. And that's the greatest gift of all.

The Reason For The Season
From: Boyd Bailey Ministries
Luke 2:11 "Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord."
Jesus is the reason for the season. He is the explanation for eternal life. He is the answer from Almighty God for grace and truth incarnate. He is the beginning and the end, and a bright light in the darkest darkness. He is our hope on earth, as we prepare for our home in heaven.
If Christ is not in Christmas then churches can convert to corporate offices, and missions can morph into humanitarian agencies. Christ in Christmas creates a tension for those who have yet to trust, but to us who have been saved it is the most significant celebration.
Christ in Christmas means you live for a purpose much grander than merchandise and commerce. Your children have a legacy of love for God and country, and service to others. You work as unto the Lord, and you give generously out of gratitude for God’s bountiful blessings.
Christ in Christmas motivates you to live like you were dying, and to die like you were living, all in a spirit of faith, hope and love. By God’s grace you promote a Christian worldview populated by praying people and full of eternal opportunities, while on guard in Spirit-led discernment to Satan’s schemes and evil’s deceptive intentions.
Christ in Christmas compels you to exclaim, "He was born, so we would believe; He died, so we would live; He rose, so we would rise!" Therefore, in humility and with pride, boldly keep Christ in Christmas.
The Bible says, "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6).

Wise People
From: BBH Ministries
Proverbs 13:20 "He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm."
There is an interesting insight within this proverb that gives hope, as well as warning. Notice the language of purposeful intimacy that is used in both the positive and contrasting negative admonitions.
He who walks with the wise is sure to be wise. It is not as though wisdom automatically rubs off on anyone who finds themselves in a family or church full of wise individuals. Almost every family, and certainly every church, has seen some individual—who even grew up in their midst— turn away from the wisdom of God's Word to the foolish pursuits of the world.
It is not simply being around wise people that makes a person wise — it is walking with them. It is the conscious choice to learn from, agree with, and live by the wisdom that one sees. While this certainly includes surrounding oneself with wise counselors and friends, it is more than that. It is the purposeful decision to walk according to the friendly, wise counsel and example they give.
There is warning in this proverb, because success or failure depends on the friendships we choose to form. However, there is hope because we can choose who our companions, our close confidants, will be.

No Room In The Inn
From: Greg Laurie Ministries
Luke 2:7 "She brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn."
In these days of modern technology, we never miss a thing with TiVo, voice mail, DVD recorders, and camera phones. But even though our toys keep us from missing a phone call, they can also cause us to miss the real reason for the holiday season.
You can watch Christmas disappear in front of your eyes, in a heap of shredded wrapping paper, and find yourself saying, "I was so busy shopping, so busy attending this, going to that, that I think I actually missed the point of Christmas."
It might be surprising to know that the majority of people missed the very first Christmas as well. People just carried on with business as usual, paying no attention to what was happening just a few feet away.
In Luke chapter 2, we are introduced to an innkeeper who had no time for Christmas. In this familiar story, Mary and Joseph came to the innkeeper for a room, but because his inn was full, he turned them away.
The only place he had for this young pregnant woman and her husband was a stable, a cold, dark, and damp stable—which was more than likely a cave. He was too preoccupied with other things to make the time for Christmas.
There are people like this in the world today. They don't necessarily oppose or hate God outright. They are simply preoccupied. God and spiritual things do not concern them. Their interests lie more in what can immediately satisfy their own physical needs. The innkeeper was too busy to make room in the inn for the soon coming Messiah.
Let me ask you this: have you made room for Jesus this Christmas? If not, there is still time to refocus and make room for Christ this Christmas, today!

Living Entirely By faith
From: BBH Ministries
James 5:11 "Those who have endured we call blessed. You have heard the steadfastness of Job, and have seen what the Lord, Who is compassionate and merciful, did in the end."
When we feel deeply afflicted, it is hard for us to believe that God is tenderly involved in our lives. We feel as though perhaps God has forsaken us or—worse still—is punishing us for some mistake we have made.
Job, as he was enduring the pain and sorrow of his lengthy ordeal, felt as if he had been utterly forsaken by God. Yet by faith he trusted in God, saying, "Yet He knows my way; if He proved me, I should come forth as gold." (23:10) He relied on God's good purposes, in the midst of personal pain and loss and anguish.
This is a difficult exercise, because it means living entirely by faith, regardless of our present circumstances. It means trusting God and patiently waiting for Him to fulfill His perfect and merciful purposes for us. It means tenaciously holding to a heavenly and eternal perspective, rather than seeking pleasure and fulfillment here and now.
The example of Job should remind us that even when grief or turmoil hide the face of God from us, He is still working tenderly toward our sanctification and glory. For this reason, James declares, "Those who have endured we call blessed."
Those who steadfastly endure the trials God allows are, in the end, the most blessed people on earth. Their lives have brought glory to God, their testimony has pointed to eternity, and their faithfulness has reminded us of God's goodness.

Radical Trust
From: Boyd Bailey Ministries
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not rely on your own understanding. In all things be mindful of Him and He will direct your paths."
Trust in God is not just for the good times, though a radical trust may be required even during prosperous times. Radical trust is greatly needed when things heat up and you lose something precious or you are refused something you may deserve. This is the time to ratchet up your radical trust. It is for times like this that God has molded your faith.
What if God has not come through? Radical trust means you stay focused on His past faithfulness. The mundane in our everyday life is a link in the chain between life’s transitions. Today’s link is important to tomorrow’s transition. We should hope for the transition to come, but trust God with today because we cannot handle more than today’s troubles or triumphs. Therefore, do not worry about matters out in the future that you have no control over.
You must trust God with today without worrying about the uncertainty of tomorrow. This is radical trust in Christ. If you obsess over fear of the future you most certainly will define the ambiguity with negative consequences. Then, unwittingly, you create a self-fulfilling prophecy and worry yourself sick and maybe others too. Or, you become of no use for today because you are too worried about tomorrow.
The Lord can be trusted. Meditate on His faithfulness instead of what might happen. Unleash the radical trust that resides within you. When you were younger radical faith marked you as a follower of Christ. Reignite that passion for Jesus. Trust God even if He has not or does not come through as planned. He is still trustworthy, so be radical in your trust!

True Faith
From: In Touch Ministries
2 Corinthians 5:7 "We walk by faith, not by sight."
Our Heavenly Father commands us to walk by faith, not according to what we see. So, what is this Christian faith? It is the confident conviction that God is all He claims to be in His Word. The truth of who He is depends only on the Almighty—it is not based on our opinions, circumstances, or feelings. Nor is it something we can scientifically measure.
The way we walk by faith is through our conduct, lifestyle, and choices. The Holy Spirit guides our steps, and we purposefully follow. It is important that we ask for direction and wisdom, expect that He will answer and meet our needs, and trust that He knows what is best.
At times, of course, we'll make mistakes. But God is always there to forgive our repentant hearts and help us back on track. As we grow into a deeper relationship with Christ, we become more focused on Him, and our trust increases.

I Am Blessed
From: Joel Osteen Ministries
1 Peter 5:7 "Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you."
This morning when you woke up, what was the first thing that went through your mind? Maybe you have a deadline to meet or a big appointment at work. Maybe you are facing a challenge or going through a difficulty in a relationship that seems to consume your thoughts.
Today, I want to encourage you; instead of focusing on what your circumstances have to offer, focus on what God has to offer you. His mercies are new every morning, and His compassion never fails. He has joy in store for you today, and He has peace in store for you today. He daily loads you with blessing!
The key to accessing these daily benefits is setting your focus in the right direction. You can’t wait to see how you feel, what kind of mood your spouse is in, what the traffic is like or what the stock market is doing. No, you have to choose to set your focus by saying, “This is going to be a great day. I am blessed! I know God is directing my steps; something good is going to happen to me today!”

Spiritual Harassment
From: Today God Is First - Os Hillman
1 Peter 5:8 "Be alert! Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."
In the spiritual realm we deal with spiritual harassment from Satan and his legions. The Bible says "our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Ephesians. 6:12)
It is important to recognize when we are coming against these forces. Satan attempts to distract us from our calling and destiny in life. We often trivialize the reality of the spirit realm of evil.
Paul tells us we must set our minds to deal with the spiritual realm of evil when it impacts our lives. "Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground." (Ephesians 6:13)
The next time you feel obstacles have been placed in your life designed to distract you from your God-ordained mission, remember Paul's words and stand firm in Christ.

We All Need A Guiding Light

Psalm 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
At 4:45, I left the house for my morning run. I live in the country; and the sources of light for my early morning runs are the moon, the stars, and lights from the farmers' yards. I had looked forward to running in the light of a full moon, but clouds blocked the light. I was more than a little disappointed. Being plunged into darkness left me with the dual challenge of seeing where I was running and making myself seen by early morning commuters.
Toward the end of my run, a break in the clouds allowed me to see the moon. It not only made the sky a beautiful patchwork of light and dark but also lit the way for me.
When we find ourselves plunged into darkness, we often feel trapped, separated, lost, fretful, anxious, and alone. We don't know where we are, and we are unable to get where we want to go. We need a guiding light.
That morning's glorious moonlight reminded me that we are never alone. In all circumstances, God walks with us in love, care, and concern. Even when darkness in our lives causes us to feel lost or disoriented, God searches us out and provides light to guide us home.

Recipe For Success
From: Our Daily Bread Ministries
Joshua 1:8 "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night . . . . Then you will have good success."
Without God’s instructions, Joshua would have failed at leading the Israelites into the Promised Land. The first step was to "be strong and of good courage." (Joshua 1:6) Next, he was to continually meditate on the Book of the Law, and finally, he was to do everything it said. As long as Joshua followed the directions, God promised him "good success."
God’s "recipe for success" can work for us too, but His idea of success has little to do with money, popularity, or even good health. In the original Hebrew, "then you will have good success" means "then you will act wisely."
Just as God called Joshua to walk in wisdom, He wants us to "walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise." (Ephesians 5:15) As we take courage in the Lord, feast on His Word, and obey Him, we have a recipe for godly success that’s better than anything we could cook up on our own.

Obstacles - Character Builders
From: New Life Devotionals - Steve Arterburn
Jonah 2:6 "To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But You brought my life up from the pit, O Lord my God."
Don't grumble about the obstacles in your path—look at them as character builders. Find a way to move them, or pray your way through them. Call to mind the words of the great American educator Booker T. Washington, who said: "I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed."
Don't be afraid to ask for help. People are surprisingly generous with advice. And remember to be thankful. You may meet a mentor who will encourage you for years to come.
The main thing, however, is not to throw in the towel when you encounter bumps in the road. Remember, when you're traveling up a mountain, it's the bumps you climb on.

Perseverance
From: Today God Is First - Os Hillman
Romans 5:2-4 "And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."
Perseverance is the key to every great accomplishment because nothing of lasting value has ever been achieved without it. Industrialist Henry Ford is one of the great success stories of American history, but he failed in business five times before he succeeded. A Ford Motor Company employee once asked his boss the secret of success, and Henry Ford replied, "When you start a thing, don't quit until you finish it."
The path ahead of you is strewn with obstacles. People will oppose you. There will be financial setbacks, time pressures, illnesses and misfortunes. Some of the biggest obstacles will be inside of you: self-doubt, insecurity, procrastination, and worry. You must give yourself permission to succeed.
When we persevere through adversity, we win the approval of our Lord Jesus Christ, who told the suffering church at Ephesus, "I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. . . . You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary" (Rev. 2:2-3). That, I'm sure, is the same commendation Joseph received from God when he passed the perseverance test.
Perseverance is a refusal to quit. It's falling down 100 times and getting back up 100 times. We need to remember that perseverance is not a matter of forcing doors to open; it's standing in front of the doors as long as it takes before God chooses to open them.
Life is a marathon, not a sprint. The race doesn't go to the swiftest, but to those who don't give up. We need endurance in order to deal with the stress of adversity. We must maintain a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and get plenty of rest. People give up or give out when they feel depleted - when they physically, emotionally and spiritually run out of gas.
When going through adversity, watch out for pessimists, blamers and toxic personalities. Beware of people who try to talk you out of your dreams and goals. Spend time with optimists and encouragers. Seek out people of faith. Persevere to the end.

The Most Important Growth
From: New Life Daily Devotionals - Steve Arterburn
Isaiah 40:31 "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Chinese bamboo is one of the most remarkable plants on earth. Once a bamboo seed is planted it requires daily watering and care. But for five full years, the exterior shoot will grow less than an inch.
At the end of five years, however, the bamboo will perform an incredible feat. It will grow ninety feet in only ninety days! Now ask yourself this: When did the tree actually grow? Throughout the first five years, or during those last ninety days?
You may be like Chinese bamboo. You may be working, dreaming, planning, and persevering, yet feeling as if God's taking forever to flower your dream into any visible result.
Be patient. The most important growth is underground—hidden deep in your character. Those who wait upon the Lord won't be put to shame; and in due time, God will reveal everything He's grown in you.

Something Better
From: Boyd Bailey Ministries
Philippians 1:6 "I am sure of this much: that He who has begun the good work in you will carry it right through to completion, right up to the day of Christ Jesus."
Don’t give up. You may be facing a temporary setback, but God’s purposes will not be thwarted. It may seem as if your life is on hold and everything has come to a stand still. You have worked so hard to get to this point, but it looks like the opportunity has vanished. If so, God has something better.
What God initiates, He accomplishes. He hasn’t forgotten about you or your circumstances. He is on top of the situation. This is a temporary setback. This is a good time for you to catch your breath and reflect on the great things He has done so far. You have been running hard, so pause and prepare for the next stage of personal and professional growth.
Focus on God, not your distracters. He is the one who has led you this far and He is the one who will lead you through to completion. If everything were easy, we might take God’s blessings for granted or we might forgo gratitude to God.
Obstacles become opportunities; adversaries become advocates; critics become cheerleaders; enemies become emissaries. And setbacks become a tremendous springboard for God’s will.

The Right Foundation
From: Greg Laurie Ministries
Matthew 7:24-25 "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock."
When you are building anything, there is nothing more important than laying the right foundation first. If you don't get that right, nothing else will matter. Of course, the fun part is deciding what color paint you will use and how you will decorate. But is there a good foundation? If you don't get that right, everything else is a problem.
Jesus illustrates this with a story of two men who built houses. Apparently, they both had the same desire. They wanted a house they could live in with their families. They thought about the same thing. They were interested in the same thing. It would appear the houses were next to each other. Outwardly, they both looked great. But one was built on the right foundation, and the other was not.
Sometimes a faulty foundation in life becomes evident right away. But other times, it is more subtle. The breakdown happens over a period of time. A life that is leaning just a little today will one day experience a complete collapse, because it hasn't been built on the right foundation.

The "Word"
From: Ambassadors For Christ International
John 1:1,14 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory."
Why was Jesus referred to as "the Word"? Because He is God speaking to us—God wants you to know Him! Jesus expressed in word and action what God is really like.
The whole Bible is about God revealing Himself to people. Even in your own life, God is constantly reaching out to you, inviting you every day to live your life in close relationship with Him.
That's why He has given us the Bible, which is also called "the Word." God wants to be totally involved in your life today. He doesn't just want you to be a "committed Christian"; He wants to walk with you through your day on a relational level.
I encourage you to make your life a pursuit of God! When the Bible talks about "seeking God", this is what it means. It means that you look for any way, any opportunity to get to know God better on the personal level.

Encourage One Another
From: Ambassadors For Christ International - John North
Hebrews 3:13 "Encourage one another daily while it is still today, so that no one grows hardened by the deceit of sin."
Fellowship is one of the tools God has given us to transform our lives. The best way to avoid a hardened heart is to get close to other people who have a real love for God. Really get into each other's spiritual lives.
Don't just hang out together. Rather, share with each other what is happening in your spiritual lives. Talk about what God is teaching you. Pray together. Study the Bible together.
If you can't find a group like that, then start one, even if you are not a leader or a strong Christian. Find someone else and just start making your spiritual lives the center of your conversation. At the end of your time together, suggest that you each pray together for each other's spiritual life.
You will find that this keeps your heart soft toward God and you will be growing spiritually as you "encourage one another!"

All Wisdom, Knowledge, And Common Sense
From: Wisdom From The Psalms Devotions
Psalm 139:17 "How precious are Your thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them!"
William was considered by many to be one of the most influential men in American business. He controlled millions of dollars, was responsible for employing millions of workers, and made decisions that affected millions of people's lives. He spent time with most of the truly important people in the world; but no one more important, in William's mind, than the Lord.
Schedules were always packed full, but never so full that William didn't take some time with God. No decision was made without consulting the Lord. When so much depended on the integrity of William's decisions, he wanted to make sure he took into consideration the Word of the Lord. To do less would be absurd.
The counsel of the Lord should be precious to us all. God holds the sum of all wisdom and knowledge. He is the ground of all common sense. Why wouldn't we want to consult the Lord when we make the important decisions in our lives?
Prayer: Fill my mind with Your own thoughts, O God. Help me to see problems through Your eyes and meet them with Your solutions. Teach me to use the gifts of reason, logic, and wisdom that You have given me. Amen.

Surrendering To God
From: Love Worth Finding Ministries
Philippians 2:13 "For it is God Who works in you both to His will and to His good pleasure."
One of the greatest secrets I have ever learned is this: God doesn't want me to do anything for Him. He wants to do something through me.
People say, "Well, I just serve God in my poor, little, old weak way." I feel like saying, "Well, quit it." He doesn't want you to serve Him in your poor, little, old weak way. He wants you out of the way, so He can flow through you!
We need to make ourselves available to God and say, "God, I'm tired of being inhibited. I want to be inhabited by You. I want You to live Your life through me."
Have you been standing in the way of God instead of surrendering to God and letting Him live through you?

Faith Trumps Fear
From: Boyd Bailey Ministries
Isaiah 41:10 "Fear not, I am with you; be not dismayed; I am your God. I will strengthen you and uphold you with My right hand of justice."
God has given you a vision. It is His gift to you. It is yours for the taking. Do not be discouraged over the timing of its culmination. He is working out all things for His purposes. Stay fixed on Him.
Your God-given vision may be dormant for now, but a dormant vision is not a dead vision. You may be experiencing a momentary pause for the sake of preparation. There are other people and resources that need cultivation and development. Your own maturity and capacity for responsibility needs expansion.
It is now that God is preparing you to handle the next steps of His vision for your life. Use this time of uncertainty to grow your faith and to drown your fears. There are two choices that invite you to decide daily. One is fear and the other is faith. Faith will trump fear if you let it. Faith is the heat that melts the cold, icy grip of fear.
Fear discourages. Faith encourages. Fear flees. Faith stays. Fear gives up. Faith digs in. Fear sees obstacles. Faith sees opportunities. Fear weakens. Faith strengthens.
Use this test of your faith to go deeper with Christ. Be encouraged. Fear is overrated. Faith in Christ is underrated. He is your confidence. In the face of fear He can be trusted!

Supernatural Energy
From: In Touch Ministries
Isaiah 40:31 "Those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary."
Exhaustion is a by-product of overcommitted schedules and never-ending responsibilities. In an effort to accomplish all that is expected, we often try to move faster and cram in more by multitasking. But in the process, we end up emotionally and physically fatigued. The Lord offers a radically different mode of living and grants renewed strength and stamina.
Those who wait upon the Lord are promised His supernatural energy. In fact, Scripture says it will surpass the natural strength and endurance of the young. Access to this divine power is achieved not by moving faster but by going slower—stopping to take time to focus on the Father, seek His direction, and ask for His strength to accomplish what He is calling you to do.
There is no human explanation for what God is willing and able to do in a yielded human body. His Holy Spirit is like the wind beneath our wings, enabling us to soar like eagles.

Spiritual Maturity
From: In Touch Ministries
Psalm 25:4-5 "Your ways O Lord, make known to me; teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your Truth..."
On life's road, crucial decisions are like intersections that call for a choice of direction. If we barrel through without seeking the mind of Christ, the road we pick may lead to regret and heartache. Although the Lord is ready and willing to offer clear direction, He doesn't always give it quickly. Knowing that He has very good reasons for withholding immediate instruction can help us wait patiently at the intersection for His guidance.
At times God leaves us in our confusion because He wants to get our attention. When everything is running smoothly, we tend to forget the Lord. But uncertainty draws us back to Him like a magnet. By aligning our steps with His and walking in submission to the Spirit, we open our ears to hear His voice.
Our waiting time is God's preparation time. In bringing about His sovereign purposes, He may put us on hold while He coordinates events to line up with His will. Sometimes the Lord has work to accomplish in us before we are ready to handle what He has planned for our future. If we instantly received His direction, we would never grow in faith. Spiritual maturity is evidenced in the ability to wait in peaceful confidence, trusting that in His time, we will know what to do.

Psalm 130:5 "I trust in the Lord; my soul trusts in His Word."
The apostle Paul clearly understood the call Jesus placed on his life at his conversion. He did not have to consult other men about this calling. But before he was released to begin his own mission, He went to Arabia for three years. Why did Paul have to go to Arabia for three years before he ever met another disciple of Jesus Christ?
The Scripture does not tell us plainly why Paul spent three years in Arabia. However, often when God places a call on one of His children, it requires a separation between the old life and the new life.
There is a time of being away from the old in order to prepare the heart for what is coming. It can be a painful and difficult separation. Joseph was separated from his family. Jacob was sent to live with his uncle Laban. Moses was sent to the desert.
Perhaps God has placed you in your own desert period. Perhaps you cannot make sense of the situation in which you find yourself. If you press into God during this time, He will reveal the purposes He has for you. The key is pressing into Him. Seek Him with a whole heart and He will be found. God may have a special calling and message He is building in your life right now.

SHAPE
From: The Purpose Driveen Life Ministries
Matthew 25:21 "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!"
The point of living your life to the fullest in every aspect is not to increase your reputation; it’s to make your life count for God, to invest it in what God says is going to make a difference.
I believe that God put you here on earth for a purpose. God has given you a special SHAPE – Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences – that he wants you to use for his glory. And when we stand before him at the end of time, all that matters is what he’s going to say about how you used your SHAPE.
Just like the servant in Matthew , I hope God says to you, "Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!"
That’s what you want said about you, and you want it said by God, not by other people.

Aim Good
From: Greg Laurie Ministries
Matthew 6:33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."
When Solomon, the son of David and Bathsheba, ascended to the throne after his father died, he was overwhelmed by the task at hand. So he prayed, and God appeared to him in a dream and told him, "Ask! What shall I give you?" (1 Kings 3:5).
If God appeared to you tonight and told you to ask for whatever you wanted, what would you pray for? Fortunately, Solomon asked for wisdom to rule God's people: "Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?" (1 Kings 3:9).
Because he had not asked for a long life, riches, or even the death of his enemies, God told Solomon He would give him just what he requested and more: "And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days" (1 Kings 3:13).

Inner Transformation
From: Ambassadors For Christ International - John North
Romans 12:1 "Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may judge what is God's will, what is good, pleasing, and perfect."
God is actively pursuing transformation in your life. He is working in you to make you more and more like Jesus!
God will use every kind of circumstance and influence in your life to accomplish this inner transformation. If you choose to embrace what God is trying to do in your life (and not just grit your teeth grudgingly), then you will grow by leaps and bounds in your spiritual life and this inner growth will overflow in the way that you live.
But if you resist what God is trying to do in your life, then He will have to resort to more and more drastic means to get your attention and turn your heart back to what really matters. As a result, your spiritual growth will be stunted.
Many of the things God wants to change in us can mean painful lessons, but if you want to grow, you must respond to Him in all things. Let the lessons drive you deeper into Him.

Perspective
From: Joel Osteen Ministries
Psalm 34:1 "I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth."
It’s easy to get focused on what’s wrong in life, what we don’t have, and how big our obstacles are. If we’re not careful, we’ll lose sight of all the good things God has done. We’ll take for granted our family, friends, health and the opportunities God has blessed us with. We’ll get so busy and stressed out that we won’t appreciate the gift of today. What’s happened? Our perspective has gotten off.
Perspective is all about how we see a situation. There’s power in your perspective because you will draw into your life what you constantly meditate on. Business may be slow. The economy may be down. The wrong perspective is, “I’ll never make it. It’s just too much.” The right perspective is, “God is supplying all of my needs."
Today, I encourage you to evaluate your perspective. Choose to lift your eyes to God the Father no matter what is happening in your circumstances. Remember, as you set your perspective in the right direction, your life will follow. When you keep an attitude of faith and expectancy, you open the door for His blessing in every area of your life!

A Clear Purpose
From: Bryant Wright Ministries
Joshua 24:15 "...Decide today whom you will serve.... As for me and my household we will serve the Lord."
Do you hear the clock ticking? Time keeps moving on. It never stops for anyone--no matter how important you are. We just can't find enough of that stuff. The late Jim Croce sang about bottling time. But one thing's for sure -- God wants us to be good stewards of our time, but we'll never be able to until we're clear about our purpose for living. The starting point is knowing why we're here.
First, ask God to help you develop a life-purpose statement. It will take some time, but it's the best time you'll ever invest. Know why you're here.
Second, decide each day what's most important for you to do that day, and do it. By having a clear purpose, and doing the most important thing each day, God can revolutionize your life and help you make the most of your time.

Personal Connection To God
From: Ambassadors For Christ International - John North
1 Thessalonians 5:17 "Pray without ceasing."
This is one of the shortest verses in the Bible—just three words—but it is one of the most powerful keys to your Christian life. Your faith will flow from your current of communion with God. To increase your faith, increase your communication with God! When you are experiencing God Himself in your life and His nearness is something that you are consciously aware of, what is there to fear in anything else that comes along?
Your living, interactive, personal connection to God makes your faith bulletproof. It is this kind of connection with God that Paul is talking about in this passage and that God is challenging us about today. God wants you to not only have a special time with Him in His word and prayer each day; He also wants you to learn the practice of communicating with Him throughout the day.
Keep your awareness of the presence of God constant and you never need to worry that your faith might falter at the critical moment. Your faith will pour out of your experience of God. If you are able to think while doing other things, then you are also able to pray while doing other things. Why not work on it today? Develop the habit of constant fellowship with God.

Cycles Of Change
From: Boyd Bailey Ministries
Romans 8:28 "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose."
Change can happen fast. It may be a health change. It could be a career change. It may be a good or bad change involving finances. Life is about cycles of change. A relationship can be here today and gone tomorrow. It is nobody’s fault, but it is part of God’s process. Many times He is behind change. God is the ultimate change agent. He changes seasons.
He changes hearts. He changes weather. He changes life to death. He changes death to life. He can convene change because He never changes. It is reassuring to rest in our unchanging heavenly Father. But, it can be disconcerting to experience change, especially sudden change. It is this unpredictability that rattles our cages.
We like life neat and in clearly defined categories—but the reality of life is change. Categories become redefined and their locations shift. This is where you need to remain nimble. Do not become set in your ways. Anything you hold with a tight fist is a candidate for God’s removal.
You cannot trust Him with everything but then leave out this one thing. Trust in God is all-inclusive. Anything that you exempt from God’s trust can be easily removed. Change may be a part of God’s process of shaking loose anything you may be gripping too tightly. This change is an opportunity to trust. Proper perspective is critical during change. Look at change as a friend not a foe.
Follow the Holy Spirit and you will change, people around you will change and circumstances will change. Change means that God is at work. Be concerned only if you are not changing. You can trust God explicitly during this change. However quick or calculated change has been, He is unchanging and can be trusted!

Finishing The Race
From: Love Worth Finding Ministries
2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought a good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith."
When Jesus came to the end of His life, He said, "I have finished the work which You gave me to do" (John 17:4).
He stayed on the track, and so did Paul. They accomplished what God had set out for them to do.
Every man has a race that he must run. Every woman has a race set before her. God knows the course. And everything God commands of you, He will empower you to do. Whether you're nine or ninety, young or old, rich or poor, God has a plan for your life! God has a race He wants you to run!
What is the race God has set before you? Thank God for the power to finish the course.

Life, Peace And Joy
From: Joel Osteen Ministries
Romans 12:2 "Do not conform yourselves to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what God’s will is...His good, pleasing and perfect will."
Most people have things in their lives that they want to change...old habits, addictions or something they want to overcome. The world offers so many "solutions" to improve your life; but really, the only way we are truly changed, the only way to be permanently transformed is by renewing your mind with the Word of God.
The scripture tells us that we shouldn’t follow the pattern of the world. What is the pattern of the world? It’s the constant striving to do more, be more and have more that only leads to weariness, emptiness and frustration. That’s not what God intends! Instead, focus your thoughts on the Word of God because when you make the Word your number one focus, something supernatural takes place.
Only you can control the doorway to your mind. Nobody can do this for you. You choose what you meditate on and what you set before your eyes. I encourage you to stay on the offensive and diligently guard your mind and heart because when you do things God’s way, you get God’s results...life, peace and joy!

Anxiety And Worry
From: Greg Laurie Ministries
Matthew 6:31-32 "So don't worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?' These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs."
What do you worry about the most? What causes you the greatest stress? In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus tells us why we should not worry, and what we should do instead. Then He concludes with this statement: "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need" (Matthew 6:33).
What we learn from Jesus about anxiety and worry is that the follower of Jesus Christ should not be filled with anxiety. This does not mean that a Christian should not be concerned with needs like food or clothing. Yes, we need to concern ourselves with them. Yes, we need to think about a roof over our heads and clothes on our backs and food in our stomachs.
In fact, the Bible contains many admonitions about saving our money, investing wisely, and working hard for a living. Jesus is not saying that we should never think about these things. Rather, He is saying that we should not be obsessed with or worry about them.
"Worrying doesn't empty today of its sorrow; it empties tomorrow of its strength." - Corrie Ten Boom

Friends
From: Game Plan For Life - Joe Gibbs
Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron, so one (person) sharpens another."
Peer pressure isn't something that automatically ends when we take on adult responsibilities. Just because we're not teenagers being dared to drive too fast or stay out too late, doesn't mean we're not influenced by the grown-up friends we keep. People we go hunting with, or go shopping with, and meet for lunch can still hold significant weight on what we do, think, and say, and what we consider to be normal.
That's why we need friends who make us want to be more like Jesus. People who have deep convictions and compassionate hearts. People who don't have a church side and a public side. People who love their spouses and invest in their kids. People who make us want to be even more sold-out and godly, not the kind who convince us, whether out loud or by a certain look, that we're taking this Christian life too seriously.
"As iron sharpens iron, so one (person) sharpens another," the Bible says. If peer pressure is something we can expect to have around for a long time, we'd better be sure we've got some people around us who help us want to become everything we ought to be.

Gratitude And Trust
From: In Touch Ministries
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding. In all things be mindful of Him and He will direct your paths."
We often find it easy to trust the Lord when circumstances are pleasant. In difficult times, though, resting in Him can be challenging. Yet that is precisely what God told David to "Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall deliver you" (Ps. 50:15).
Trusting the Lord is possible because of His love for us. In the Bible, we see this divine love clearly demonstrated through the Father's character, the Savior's atoning death, and the believer's adoption as a child of God.
Another reason we can rely upon our heavenly Father is His infinite wisdom (Rom. 11:33). He always knows what is best for us, and His judgments are perfect. We don't understand all that goes into God's plan—compared to the full, clear view He has of our lives, we see just a limited picture of reality. Therefore, what He chooses for us may not make sense at the time.
We can also depend upon the Lord because He is sovereign. In other words, whatever He—in His wisdom and love—chooses to do, He is able to accomplish. Nothing stands in the way of our God. He is in complete control of all things; even Satan must obtain His permission before taking action (Job 1:9-12).
We understandably dislike adversity intensely and may feel tempted to ask, "Why, Lord?" Yet by recognizing that God acts in love, wisdom, and sovereignty, we can know that He's allowed the situation and has our long-term best in mind. So we can replace "why?" with gratitude and trust.

Workplace Ministry
From: Today God Is First - Os Hillman
Colossians 3:17 "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."
Over 70 percent of our time is spent in the workplace, the greatest mission field of our day and represents the greatest opportunity for societal transformation. The wall between Sunday and Monday still exists and most workplace believers do not understand that all of life is spiritual, not just life on Sunday.
God is removing the wall of separation by speaking to pastors and workplace believers all over the world. We are entering a new era in the Church when workplace believers are seen as members of the Body of Christ who need to be mobilized and trained for the work of the ministry to their own mission field - the workplace. You don't have to be a trained preacher to be an ambassador for Christ! St. Francis of Assisi said, "Always preach the Gospel...and sometimes use words."
Pray that God will help local church leaders understand and affirm this calling, and that they will respond by training their people for their own ministry in their workplaces. And also pray that Corporate leaders will recognize the need, and benefit of Corporate Chaplaincy. In fact, both Houses of Congress have enjoyed the use of appointed Chaplains since the founding of our Nation. Very good idea!

Peace And Trust
From: Boyd Bailey Ministries
Proverbs 23:7 "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…"
Your thoughts, perceptions, emotions, will, memory and imagination are all wrapped up in your human consciousness called the mind. This is why your mind is like the rudder of your life. Wherever your mind takes you, your behavior will follow. If thoughts take you toward the rocks of fear, you will act fearful. If they take you toward the shore of peace, you will act calm.
But, a mind, latched onto the Lord, trusts Him when circumstances beg for you to cower in fear. Thus, keep your perspective on the horizon of heaven. Like a ship cascading through the open sea, you have the wind of the Holy Spirit moving you forward, with the compass of truth leading you toward the ultimate destination of God’s will.
Make peace and trust a staple of your spiritual diet, as they nourish your soul like food and water invigorates your body. Like a security detail, they will escort you through good and bad times. They will protect you from lashing out in anger when you have been deeply hurt. A steadfast mind is one that stays focused on Jesus and His expectations.
Your mind is a school for study, so make sure your faculty members flow from the character of God. Cultivate your brain for more creative ways to apply His peace and trust. Do not analyze God out of the equation. Rather, draw Him into your conclusions. A peaceful trust comes from our perfect God!
Jesus said, "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).

Maybe You Should Trade Places
From: Powerpoint Ministries
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths."
Trust can be difficult, can't it? There have been times in my life when I put my trust in someone and was completely let down. And every time that happens, it makes it that much harder to trust them again. But while people will fail you, God will never let you down.
God has a master plan for every Christian… a blueprint for every believer… a wonderful will for your life as well as mine. And whether you are a butcher, a baker, or a candlestick maker, God has a purpose for your life. We can know for certain that God is in control, that we're not just aimlessly wandering and meandering through life, because the Scripture affirms that over and over again.
The Lord only asks that you trust in Him to know what's best for you… to not lean on your own understanding of how things should be. It's like that bumper sticker I see all the time that says, "If God is your copilot, then you better trade places!"
When you begin to trust in God for everything, He will do amazing things in your life for his glory!

Faithful Stewardship
From: The Purpose Driven Life Ministries
Matthew 25:21 "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness."
We never really own anything during our brief stay on earth. God just loans it to us while we're here. It was God's property before we arrived, and God will loan it to someone else after we die. We just get to enjoy it for a while.
The first job God gave humans was to manage and take care of God's "stuff" on earth. This role has never been rescinded. It is a part of our purpose today. Everything we enjoy is to be treated as a trust that God has placed in our hands.
Jesus often referred to life as a trust and told many stories to illustrate our responsibility toward God. In the story of the talents, a businessman entrusts his wealth to the care of his servants while he's away. When he returns, he evaluates each servant's responsibility and rewards them accordingly. The owner says, "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness."
At the end of our life on earth we will be evaluated and rewarded according to how well we handled what God entrusted to us.

Testing Your Heart
From: The Purpose Driven Life Ministries
2 Chronicles 32:31 "God withdrew from Hezekiah in order to test him and to see what was really in his heart."
Character is both developed and revealed by tests, and all of life is a test. You are always being tested. God constantly watches your response to people, problems, success, conflict, illness, disappointment, and even the weather! He even watches the simplest actions such as when you open a door for others, when you pick up a piece of trash, or when you're polite toward a clerk or waitress.
Words like trials, temptations, refining, and testing occur more than 200 times in Scripture. God tested Abraham by asking him to offer his son Isaac. God tested Jacob when he had to work extra years to earn Rachel as his wife. Adam and Eve failed their test in the Garden of Eden, and David failed a test from God on several occasions. But the Bible also gives us many examples of people who passed great tests, such as Job, Joseph, Ruth, Esther, and Daniel.
We don't know all the tests God will give you, but we can predict some of them, based on the Bible. You will be tested by major changes, by delayed promises, by impossible problems, by unanswered prayers, undeserved criticism, and even senseless tragedies. In my own life I have noticed that God tests my faith through problems, tests my hope by how I handle possessions, and tests my love through people.
A very important test is how you act when you can't feel God's presence in your life. Sometimes God intentionally draws back, and we don't sense His closeness. A king named Hezekiah experienced this test. The Bible says, "God withdrew from Hezekiah in order to test him and to see what was really in his heart." Hezekiah had enjoyed a close fellowship with God, but at a crucial point in his life God left him alone to test his character, to reveal a weakness, and to prepare him for more responsibility.
When you understand that life is a test, you realize that nothing is insignificant in your life. Even the smallest incident has significance for your character development. Every day is an important day, and every second is a growth opportunity to deepen your character, to demonstrate love, or to depend on God. The good news is that God wants you to pass the tests of life, so He never allows them to be greater than the grace He gives you to handle them (1 Corinthians 10:13).

"I Got The Part"
From: The Word For Today - Bob Gass Ministries
Matthew 23:12 "Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled, but whoever humbles himself shall be exalted."
Have you ever asked, 'How could God use someone like me?' The Psalmist answers, "For His name's sake!" (Psalm 23:3) Only one name counts - and it's not yours! With the same intensity that God hates pride, He loves humility. His Word says, "...God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." (James 4:6)
So here are a few tips on staying humble. First, evaluate yourself honestly. Don't be like the beaver who told the rabbit as they stared up at the immense wall of Hoover Dam in USA, "No, I didn't actually build it myself. But it was based on an idea of mine." The Bible says, "Don't cherish exaggerated ideas of yourself... but try to have a sane estimate of your capabilities." (Romans 12:3-4)
Second, learn to celebrate others. Paul writes, "...don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves." (Philippians 2:3) Every goal scored in life is usually a team effort. Be like the little boy who came home from the auditions for the school play and announced, "Mommy, I got the part. I've been chosen to sit in the audience and cheer." When you can do that, your head finally fits your hat size.

Learn, Follow And Trust
From: Powerpoint Daily Ministries
John 10:27 "My sheep hear My voice; I know them, and they follow Me."
Remember when you were little and you would just play outside for hours and hours? Then dinnertime would roll around and there was always that famous call from home, "Dinner!"
Now, no one ever had to look at you and say, "Your parents are calling you." No, you knew your mom or dad's voice because you heard it all the time. And because you knew that, you also knew when it was someone else's mom calling and you still had more time to play!
In the same way, a true follower of Jesus hears His voice. But he doesn't just hear His voice, he follows His voice. It's so important to understand that being one of Christ's sheep means you truly follow Him!
It's one thing to call yourself a Christian, go to church, volunteer for a ministry, and read your Bible. It's another thing entirely to be a Christ-follower… to learn from His teachings and love Him with all your heart.
So don't just learn about Christ, follow Him. Trust in Him with all of your heart. Read your Bible daily and apply it to your life. As a follower of Jesus, you'll be used in amazing ways!

Changing Our Nature
From: Today God Is First - Os Hillman
Job 12:22 "He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings deep shadows into the light."
God will sometimes use a deep valley to frame our lives to create a change in our nature, not just a change in our habits. The depth and width of our valley is often an indicator of the level of calling and influence we will have on others in the future. Our adversity is not just for us, but others who will be in our future path of influence. This is not very comforting when you are in the middle of the valley, but know this is a truth in the Kingdom.
It is often years later when we discover the wisdom of God and why He intentionally led us through the dark valley. Life is often lived forward, but understood backward. It is not until we are down the road and we stand on the mountain looking back at the valley that we can appreciate the terrain God has allowed us to scale and the spiritual deposits He has made in our life while we were there.
When you begin to realize this, you sit back and breathe a sigh of relief because you know that God was in control all along. It didn't seem like it at the time, but He was.
Do you find yourself in a valley? Now is the time to fully trust Him to guide you to higher ground.

"Let Not Your Hearts Be Troubled"
From: Neil Anderson Ministries
John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled."
The peace of God is something you need to appropriate daily in your inner world in the midst of the storms which rage in the external world. There are a lot of things that can disrupt your external world because you can't control all your circumstances and relationships. But you can control the inner world of your thoughts by allowing the peace of Christ to rule in your heart on a daily basis.
There may be chaos all around you, but God is bigger than any storm. I keep a little plaque on my desk which reminds me: "Nothing will happen to me today that God and I cannot resolve."
The peace of Christ will rule in your heart when you "let the word of Christ richly dwell within you" (Colossians 3:16). And when you turn to Him in prayer, "the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:7).

Growing And Changing
From: The Purpose Driven Life Ministries
Philippians 1:6 "I am confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it through to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
We humans are great starters but often bad finishers. We leave unfinished symphonies, unfinished buildings, unfinished books, unfinished projects. We may not always finish what we start but God always finishes what He starts.
God doesn't create a bird and give him half a wing. He doesn't create an unfinished flower or an unfinished star. He puts the finishing touches on everything He does and then He says, "It is good."
The Bible says, when Jesus Christ starts working in your life, He will complete what He started, in spite of the hang-ups, faults, bad decisions, sins, and circumstances that we face. That's a very comforting thought! One day when we get to heaven we're going to become just, "like Jesus because we will see Him as He is." (1 John 3:2) And that's the goal.
In the meantime, if we want to enjoy the people in our lives, we need to be patient with their progress. We must allow for their growth and development. Paul could say, "I'm not the man I used to be, thank God. But also, thank God, I'm not the person I'm going to be. I'm growing and changing."

Shining Light
From: Greg Laurie Ministries
Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden."
Light reveals things. Light not only exposes what is hidden in the darkness, but light shows the way out. In the same way, the light that shines from Christians shows people not only their shortcomings and their sins, but it shows them the way out, the way to Jesus Christ.
What kind of general opinion do you think people would have of Christianity if you were its sole representative? What if every Christian lived exactly like you? How many would be attracted to or turned off by the gospel?
Jesus said, "You are the light of the world." You may be the only representative of Jesus Christ that your friends, your family, your coworkers, and your neighbors may ever meet. And they will evaluate the whole idea of Christianity on the basis of what they see in you. They will form an opinion about what they think about God based on you. So let your light shine.

God's Spiritual Influence
From: Bayless Conley Ministries
Isaiah 55:3,10-11 "Come to Me heedfully, listen, that you may have life. For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."
In the same way rain brings blessing when it waters the earth (causing it to bring a bountiful harvest and fruitfulness into the lives of the people), so God's spiritual influence brings refreshment and fruitfulness to our lives.
What is God's spiritual influence? It is the impact of His Word and His Spirit upon the hearts of His children.
When you come to God, when you respond to His call to seek Him and incline your ear, He will speak to you. And the effect His Word has when He speaks it into your life, into your heart, is the same effect that rain has on the earth.
His Word, as it penetrates your heart, will bring refreshment, enlightenment, and ultimately, fruitfulness. It will bring revival into your heart causing spiritual growth and progress.

You Need To Know The Why
From: The Purpose Driven Life Ministries
Habakkuk 2:2-3 "Then the Lord answered me and said: 'Write down the vision clearly upon the tablets, so that one can read it readily. For the vision still has its time, presses on to fulfillment, and will not disappoint. If it delays, wait for it, it will surely come, it will not be late.'"
The next ten years can be the greatest of your life. They can become a Decade of Destiny, where your life is focused and, as a result, you're able to make an impact in all you do.
To get where you believe God wants you to go and be what you know God wants you to be, there are several steps you need to take that will get you focused --
Step #1 - Determine your present position. You've got to know where you are before you can know where you are going.
To do that, ask yourself two questions:
Where am I now? Where are you spiritually, financially, emotionally, relationally, physically, and occupationally?
What would I like to change? In all of those areas you identified, what would you like to be different?
An important principle here is that it is never too late for you to make a change in your life, even though making the change may take longer than you think. This is why you can't procrastinate. You can either drift through the next ten years or you can have direction over the next ten years. God wants you to have direction.
Step #2 - Be specific about what you want. In order to get to where you want to be, you need to describe exactly what you want. You will never reach a vague goal. The more general it is, the less power it has. But the more specific it is, the more power it has in your life.
Ask yourself these four questions:
What do I want to be?
What do I want to do?
What do I want to have?
Why do I want it?
You can't just know the what, you need to know the why - that's your motivation. If you don't know why, you will give up when it gets tough. You don't need to focus on the how for now because, once you figure out the why, God will show you how. He will help you solve the problems that stand in the way of your goal.

True Character
From: In Touch Ministries
1 Peter 1:6-7 "You may for a time have to suffer the distress of many trials; but this is so that your faith, which is more precious than the passing splendor of fire-tried gold, may by its genuineness lead to praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ appears."
How a person responds to hardship reveals his or her true character. Hard times are when God's people most need to match actions to words. It's easy to say, "I trust God" or "My Lord is faithful," particularly when life is good. But unless we recognize that He is sovereign even in adversity, the same lips will complain and seek pity. Believers who trust in the Lord's faithfulness and supremacy will steadfastly focus on Him and thereby keep their anxiety and doubt subdued.
In order to conquer adversity, we must begin moving through it. It is essential for a suffering believer to surrender to God's will. We may not know what His purpose is. We certainly won't like the pain, and we'll definitely want the situation to change—fast. But giving the Lord free rein allows Him to mature our faith, conform us to the likeness of His Son, and fulfill His unique plan for our lives.
Surrendering does not seem like a way to advance anywhere. But in reality, we're just handing over the controls to God and saying, "You guide me where You want me to go." Doing so requires a lot of trust. We serve a Lord who is worthy of our faith and confidence

The Real Thing
From Boyd Bailey Ministries
Psalm 32:2 "Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit."
Authentic living is real living. You are a bona fide believer in Christ. You are a genuine follower of Jesus Christ. Your faith commitment is unquestioned. You are the real deal. In your life what you see is what you get. Pretense and guile are a distant memory for you. There is nothing counterfeit about your character. This is authenticity.
Authentic people know how to laugh at themselves. As they get older, they take themselves less seriously and they take God more seriously. When you admit to your blind spots, people understand better how to support you in your weakness. Instead of people thinking less of you for your admission of weakness, they believe in you even more. Authenticity feeds respect, while deceit harvests disrespect.
Authenticity begins with God. Because God is 100% authentic, He expects the same from His children. There is nothing at all deceitful about God. His Word is His Word, true and everlasting. You can trust His promises. There is no need to try to hide from God. Your authenticity with the Almighty tells Him what He already knows.
Authentic believers are blessing receivers because they are truth givers. Yes, it is wise to be discreet in your transparency with others. A good start is to say here are my weaknesses, what others do you see? This authenticity will free you and free others to be the Body of Christ—supporting, encouraging and holding each other accountable. Be authentic as He is authentic and, as a result, we will all experience the real thing!

You Will Never Walk Alone
From: Our Daily Bread Ministries
Isaiah 41:13 "I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, 'Fear not, I will help you.'"
Sometimes life can be scary: Loss of loved ones. Financial woes. Health problems. As we carry these heavy burdens and cares, we long for a strong hand to hold ours to keep us steady and secure.
When Joshua took over the leadership of Israel, Moses reminded him of God’s help in tough times. In the difficult days to come, Joshua would need to remember to trust God and His promises. Moses said, "The Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed." (Deuteronomy 31:8)
Isaiah encourages us with these words from God: "I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, 'Fear not, I will help you.'" When life gets scary, God is with us, we can hold His strong hand.
This song by Lowell Alexander reminds us of God’s presence: "You will face mountains so steep, deserts so long, and valleys so deep. Sometimes the journey’s gentle, sometimes the cold winds blow. But I want you to remember, I want you to know you will never walk alone. . . . Jesus will be right beside you all the way." He’ll walk alongside us and hold our hand at the "scary" parts.

Even When You Goof Up
From: Bayless Conley Ministries
Psalm 37:23-24 "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand."
When you first read these verses, it is easy to focus on the truth that God orders the steps of a good man, someone who is following God. That is certainly a comforting, motivating, and powerful truth. But I want to point you to the second sentence, "Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand."
What an amazing statement! Even when your steps are being ordered by the Lord, you can still goof up! God affirms that you may be seeking to walk with Him and you can still mess up, there is always that human factor. Our flesh gets in the way. Sometimes we make wrong decisions. Sometimes we can be a bit stubborn. And sometimes we blow it, even when that is the last thing we want to do!
Here is what I want you to grasp today: Even if you mess things up, even if you stumble and fall, God will not utterly abandon you. He will support you, and He will lift you up with His hand.

Our True Calling
From: Bryant Wright Ministries
2 Thessalonians 1:11 "With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of His calling, and that by His power He may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith."
We can all think of a bad day at work, but can you think of any time when you were "in the zone" - a moment where you enjoyed your task - you were caught up in your work and lost track of time? What were you doing at that moment? What skills were you using? What was it that caused you to be passionate about the work? Understanding the answers to these questions will often help you better understand how to best use your time and talents - a calling.
A calling is when we are passionately using our God-given gifts in a way that pleases Him. We are not talking about your personality profile, but about those God-given gifts listed in the Bible like teaching, counseling, generosity, administration, and prayer, among many others. Kirk Livingston, CEO of a communications company, sums it up, "When we find ourselves involved with God at work, we also begin to find the work we were meant to do." And that's how we discover our true calling from God.
Have you discovered your calling? If not, pray and search for God's will. Over time, He'll reveal it to you.

When You're Disappointed
From: The Word For Today - Bob Gass Ministries
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 "We are afflicted in every way possible, but we are not crushed; full of doubts, but we never despair; persecuted, but never abandoned; struck down, but never destoyed."
Max Lucado says, 'When God doesn't do what we want it's not easy. Never has been. Never will be. Faith is the conviction that God knows more than us... and He'll get us through. Disappointment is caused by unmet expectations... and is cured by revamped expectations... Don't panic... don't give up... be patient... God's in control. It ain't over till it's over.'
So, when you're disappointed:
(1) Look inward. David asked, 'Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad?...' (Psalm 42:5) Admit how you feel. You can't deal with what you don't acknowledge. Ask God to show you the root of the problem. Is it pent-up anger? Envy? Unforgiveness? Pride? Lust? Physical and mental fatigue? Be open to what He reveals
(2) Look upward. David said, '...I will... hope in God! I will praise Him...' Instead of focusing on your discouragement, focus on the One who knows the way out
(3) Remember God's past faithfulness. David said, 'I am... discouraged, but I will remember You.' Through every trial Joseph clung to the assurance that God still controlled his destiny. Recalling God's faithfulness builds your confidence that He'll continue to provide
(4) Remember, you don't have to understand. Just because you can't figure out what God's doing right now, doesn't mean it won't make sense later. He '...causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him...' (Romans 8:28)
(5) Don't give in to bitterness. When your hopes are dashed, resentment can set in. '...If God is for us, who can be against us?' (Romans 8:31)
Regardless of how deep the pit may seem, God is on your side!

A Better Idea
From: The Purpose Driven Life Ministries
Proverbs 19:21 "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails."
Have you noticed that things don't always turn out the way you want them to? That sometimes God has a better idea?
The Bible says in Proverbs 27:1, "Don't boast about tomorrow. You don't know what tomorrow's going to bring." It's okay to make your plans, but remember that life is unpredictable and God says we shouldn't presume on it. On the other hand, we shouldn't worry about it because God is in control.
The right attitude is to always keep your plans submitted to God. Make your plans but say, "God, if this is what You want, this is the direction I'm going to go. I'm doing this with flexible faith."
Proverbs 16:9 says, "We should make our plans counting on God to direct us." How do you do that? By praying. When you get up in the morning and have your quiet time, say, "God, what do You want to do with me this day?"
Then when interruptions come, you'll remember God is in control. It will dramatically lower the frustration level in your life as you remember it is not all up to you.

Exercises In Trust
From: In Touch Ministries
Matthew 14:27 "Jesus hastened to reassure them: 'Get hold of yourselves! It is I. Do not be afraid!'"
No one gets through life without trials. Realistically, you are either in a storm, just getting out of a one, or about to enter a turbulent time. That is the bad news. Thankfully, we serve a good God who provides beautifully—especially during the dark periods of life.
Today's passage tells of a stormy night on the Sea of Galilee. Jesus provides for us today just as He did for His disciples in that unsettling situation. Today, we will focus on ways that He does this.
First, the Father gives Christians His presence and the promise that He will never leave (Heb. 13:5-6). This is, perhaps, the greatest gift because from this awareness, He offers a sense of comfort, courage, and confidence.
Second, the Lord blesses His children with a pathway through trouble. He is in total control of our storm and will use the trial for His purpose. We may not understand, but we can trust His hand to guide us and accomplish good. Sometimes the reason and benefit of a difficulty will becomes obvious, while in other cases, it may never be clear.
Third, the Father offers believers the potential to grow. Hardships are exercises in trust and times to learn more fully who God is and how great His power and love are.
No one enjoys trials, but hardships are chances to trust your Creator and to know Him better.

When You Get Knocked Down, Get Up
From: The Word For Today - Bob Gass
Joshua 1:9 "I command you: be firm and steadfast! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord, your God, is with you wherever you go."
Tom Monaghan started Domino's Pizza in 1960 with one little shop. He struggled for eight years. When his shop burned to the ground, the insurance company paid him only one cent on the dollar to cover his losses. All he knew was pizza, so he started another shop. He worked 100 hours a week. Up to this point he had only taken one week-long holiday - for his honeymoon.
By 1971 he was $1.5million in debt. But he stayed in his field, which was the pizza business, and tried something new. He limited his menu to pizza only, and decided to deliver it hot and fresh to customers at no extra charge. It worked. By 2007, Domino's Pizza had grown to 6100 stores across the United States and other countries. Today he's one of the richest men in the nation, and he gives most of his profits to charity.
What was his secret? He started where he was. He fought for what he believed to be his God-given purpose. And when he got knocked down he got back up.

Passions And Strengths
From: Boyd Bailey Ministries
Romans 12:6 "We have gifts that differ according to the favor bestowed on each of us."
Know and understand your strengths, for it is best to behave how God created you. By God’s grace, He places within you the gifts to carry out His plan. This is called your core competency. You may be a gifted leader, so lead. You may be a gifted coach, so coach. You may be a gifted counselor, so counsel. You may be a gifted administrator, so administer.
You may be a gifted writer, so write. You may be a gifted servant, so serve. You may be a gifted artist, so create. You may be a gifted communicator, so communicate. There is a long menu of gifts, and you probably resemble several of them. Study your gifts, and you will discover your strengths.
Become comfortable with and accept the one thing you do naturally. It is effortless because God has engineered you for this. He gave you the skills and abilities to innovate, create, and produce these desired outcomes. However, make sure you do not confuse passion with strength. If you have the passion to speak, it is imperative you at least have the raw skill for speaking. Many of the technicalities of communication can be learned, but don’t try to make yourself become someone you’re not.
Synergy for life and work come as you align passions and strengths. Take the time to understand what you do best and where you have the most energy, and then position your responsibilities at home and work to mirror that ideal. Do not be afraid to change and try new things. Ask others to validate what you do best. Ask those who know you well to affirm where they see your passion protrude. Then, prayerfully align around both.
Be who God has made you to be!

As You Practice, So You Play
From: Bryant Wright Ministries
James 4:8 "Draw close to God and He will draw close to you."
Football coaches have a saying about preparing for the big game. As you practice, so you play. It works the same way in our spiritual lives. Regular time alone with God is how we practice staying close to God each day. And certainly if we're going to have meaningful, weekly worship with other believers, it's always more meaningful when we've spent time alone with God.
Have you ever been to a worship service that just seemed to fall flat? Maybe you thought your pastor let you down and gave a sermon that was just plain boring! Or maybe the music didn't connect or wasn't the style you were in the mood for that day. Some days things just don't connect and you think, "Well, there's an hour of my life I'll never get back."
Maybe it's just a little too easy to blame the worship leaders for a flat experience. When a weekly service disappoints, it might be because you haven't been in practice all week. As you practice, so you play the game. You'll be amazed how much anticipation there is for weekly worship if you have regular time alone with God.

With God Timing Is Everything
From: Powerpoint Daily Devotionals - Jack Graham
Romans 8:18 "I consider the sufferings of the present to be as nothing compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us."
The great basketball coach, John Wooden, who passed away fairly recently at almost 100 years of age, wrote a book called, Be Quick, Don't Hurry. He was talking about basketball of course, saying be quick, but don't rush because that's when mistakes happen.
That's good advice for us today regarding life in general. You see, with God time means nothing, but timing with God is everything!
You may be struggling today wondering when your struggles will ever end. But with God, your suffering is only temporary and your future is filled with eternal hope.
Trust God's timing and the masterful hand of Providence in your life. Your struggles today cannot compare to the glorious promise that is yours in Christ Jesus.

No Surprise To God
From: Joel Osteen Ministries
Matthew 5:45 "... The rain falls on the just and the unjust."
In life, we all have to deal with the unexpected. Just because we're believers, just because we're good people or doing the right thing doesn't make us exempt from trouble. The scripture says, "The rain falls on the just and the unjust."
In times when something unexpected happens, or you find yourself facing a crisis, you don't have to go into "panic mode" or fall apart emotionally. Remember, that crisis is no surprise to God. It may be unexpected to you, but God knows the end from the beginning. He has solutions to problems that you haven't even had. He has equipped you for every battle, and He goes before you making your crooked places straight.
Today, focus on the fact that He is with you. Remember that He is walking with you and guiding you to a place of peace and victory. No matter what has happened, He will take what the enemy meant for evil and turn it around for your good! He always leads us in victory, so keep moving forward trusting in the good plan He has for you!
