Hebrews 12:1 "And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us."
God has a plan for your life, custom-designed for you and you alone. Run the race God has set for you, not the race you set for yourself, not the race other people set for you, and not the race culture sets for you.
How do you know what is the race God wants you to run? Look at your SHAPE. Your SHAPE is your Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experiences. What are you gifted to do? What do you love? What are your abilities? What is your personality? What are your experiences?
God doesn’t want rabbits to fly and eagles to swim. They are shaped to do what they are supposed to do, and you are shaped to do what God wants you to do. So stop trying to run other people’s races and go run God’s race for you!

Core Values
From: Bryant Wright Ministries
Romans 12:2 "Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may judge what is God's will, what is good, pleasing and perfect."
There's a lot of talk these days about core values, those things that identify priorities for your company, your family, or your life. Let me share with you our number one core value: to be more and more like Jesus.
Think about it. Jesus poured his life into the lives of twelve ordinary men, investing most of His time with them. At one point, He even washed their feet--the act of a servant. He healed the sick. He loved the poor. He was concerned about the widow, the orphan, and the person who was left out. He loved kids. He got angry when the religious leaders put the legalism of the Law before the love of God and the love for people. Even when mankind was murdering Him on the cross, He chose to forgive.
Jesus was totally dedicated to doing the will of God, yet He was loving, compassionate, and forgiving with people. We all fall short, but what a model to follow in our everyday living.

Nothing More Important
From: Joel Osteen Ministries
James 4:8 "Draw close to God and He will draw close to you."
God promises that He will draw close to you when you draw close to Him. How do we draw close to Him? When we turn away from the things that displease Him, we are turning toward Him. That’s the first step. Then, the Bible tells us to come into His presence with thanksgiving in our hearts and give Him praise. When you have a thankful heart, you are drawing closer to Him.
Thirdly, scripture tells us that God opposes the proud, but He gives grace to the humble. When you live with an attitude of humility, you are drawing closer to Him.
There’s nothing more important in life than drawing close to God the Father. Seek Him with your whole heart, and you will find Him. Let Him speak to your heart by reading your Bible, praying and meditating on His promises every single day. Worship Him with a humble and open heart because when you seek Him, you will find Him, and He will fill you with His peace, comfort and joy all the days of your life!

When You Hit the Wall
From: Powerpoint Ministries - Jack Graham
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed…"
Back in the1984 Olympics, there was a Swiss runner named Gabrielle Anderson-Scheiss who was at the very end of running the marathon event. But when came into that stadium for her final lap, her legs turned to rubber. She started wobbling and was about to collapse. Yet, as she staggered in, the crowd cheered enthusiastically and the whole world watched as Gabrielle finished that race.
The analysts were talking about what had happened to Gabrielle, who was really a great runner. They said she "hit the wall," which happens when a runner’s blood sugar and hydration level get so low that dizziness, muscle paralysis, and even a total collapse can happen. But even though she hit the wall, Gabrielle finished the race.
There are many believers today who have hit the wall spiritually and are running on low spiritual energy. They’ve been disappointed and discouraged to the point that they’re almost ready to throw in the towel.
But the Word of God promises that, even in those times when you feel like you have nothing left—when you feel afflicted, crushed, or struck down—you will never be destroyed solely because of your position in Christ. So when tough times hit and you feel like you’ve hit the wall, remember you have a Savior who will carry you to the finish!
The Game of Life
From: Bryant Wright Ministries
John 15:4 "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me."
Remember the old Nike commercial? The implication was that all you needed to become an athlete was determination, hard work, and those shoes!
When it comes to human nature, life is very different. Human beings just aren't disciplined enough to do all we need to do. We seldom can change ourselves by our own initiative.
One of the Bible writers, an avid sports fan by the name of Paul, recognized that changing human nature calls on something else--a supernatural change agent. Our only responsibility is to be willing to allow that change agent to bring about the needed improvements.
No, He might not improve your golf game, even though you wish He would. He may not give you the ability to hit home runs or even make you run faster if you have those shoes. But He will adjust your attitude, your character, and your relationships for the better. So, "Just Do It!" Allow Christ to help you be a winner in the game of life.

Wisdom
From: Selwyn Hughes Ministries
Proverbs 4:7 "The beginning of wisdom is: get wisdom; at the cost of all you have, get understanding."
One of the mistakes many people make when thinking about wisdom is to confuse it with learning, intelligence, brilliance or cleverness. How many times do we read in our newspapers of those who have climbed the ladder of success, have been highly educated or have achieved great prominence in the world, only to see them come tumbling down because of some moral indiscretion?
Many professional people have a great deal of knowledge but lack wisdom. For example, you see this in the marriage counselor who, in spite of all his credentials, can't hold his own marriage together; in the economist who goes bankrupt playing the stock market; in the preacher who shocks his congregation by running off with a young woman.
Learning, intelligence and professional training are important. But if we are to be experts in the art of living, as Proverbs sets out to teach us, then we must see that without wisdom the things I have listed don't count for too much.

At All Times
From: Joel Osteen Ministries
Psalm 34:1 "I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak His praises."
When you woke up this morning, what was the first thing that you thought of? Did you start the day expecting God’s goodness, or is there a circumstance that is overwhelming you and consuming your thoughts?
Today, I want to encourage you that no matter what you are facing, choose to praise the Lord. Choose to declare His goodness. Don’t magnify your problems today, magnify your God! Scripture says that God inhabits the praises of His people. When you praise Him, He shows up and all the forces of the enemy have to flee! There’s no foe that can stand against you in the presence of Almighty God!
Why don’t you take a few moments right now and set the tone for the day by praising God. Thank Him for His goodness, faithfulness and love. Praise Him at all times because He is good and worthy, and watch how He transforms every area of your life!

Your Life's Journey
From: New Life Daily Devotions - Steve Arterburn
Jeremiah 29:11-14 "For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare, not for woe! plans to give you a future full of hope. When you call Me, when you go to pray to Me, I will listen to you. Yes, when you seek Me with all your heart, you will find Me with you says the Lord, and I will change your lot..."
If you’re experiencing tough times, you may be asking yourself, "What does God want me to do next?" Perhaps you’re pondering your future, uncertain of your plans, unsure of your next step. But even if you don’t have a clear plan for the next step of your life’s journey, you may rest assured that God does.
God has a plan for the universe, and He has a plan for you. He understands that plan as thoroughly and completely as He knows you. If you seek God’s will earnestly and prayerfully, He will make His plans known to you in His own time and in His own way.
Sometimes, God’s plans and purposes may seem unmistakably clear to you. If so, push ahead. But other times, He may lead you through the wilderness before He directs you to the Promised Land. So be patient and keep seeking His will for your life. When you do, you’ll be amazed at the marvelous things that an all-powerful, all-knowing God can do.

Time For Renewal
From: New Life Daily Devotions - Steve Arterburn
Ezekiel 36:26 "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you."
Even the most inspired Christians can, from time to time, find themselves running on empty. The demands of daily life can drain us of our strength and rob us of the joy that is rightfully ours in Christ. When we find ourselves tired, discouraged, or worse, there is a source from which we can draw the power needed to recharge our spiritual batteries. That source is God.
God intends that His children lead joyous lives filled with abundance and peace. But sometimes, abundance and peace seem very far away. It is then that we must turn to God for renewal, and when we do, He will restore us.
Are you tired or troubled? Turn your heart toward God in prayer. Are you weak or worried? Take the time—or, more accurately, make the time—to delve deeply into God’s Holy Word. Are you spiritually depleted? Call upon fellow believers to support you, and call upon Christ to renew your spirit and your life. When you do, you’ll discover that the Creator of the universe stands always ready and always able to create a new sense of wonderment and joy in you.

Faith Journey
From: Leading The Way - Michael Youssef
Matthew 14:31 "Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, 'O you of little faith, why did you doubt?'"
Have you ever experienced a setback in your faith journey? We all experience failure and discouragement and spiritual stagnation at some point in our lives. However, we should never allow our failures to become excuses for giving up on God's plans or running from our relationship with God.
Each one of us will experience failure and setbacks in life. But, we can find encouragement, knowing that the spiritual giants of the Bible...humans with faults and sins and disappointments; even in their weaknesses and amidst their failures, continued to follow God in faith. Whatever setbacks we encounter on our faith walk, we can take heart that it is never too late to trust and obey God.
Faith requires hard work and commitment to God. We must walk in obedience to God and follow where He leads. We need to maintain an active and fervent prayer life to know God's voice. We must daily study His Word to strengthen our faith in His promises. Pray for God's strength to help you overcome those hurdles that challenge you on your faith journey.

Seize That Opportunity
From: New Life Daily Devotions - Steve Arterburn
Isaiah 40:31 "They that hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar as with eagles' wings; they will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint."
Each new day offers countless opportunities to serve God, to seek His will, and to obey His teachings. But each day also offers countless opportunities to stray from God’s commandments and to wander far from His path.
Sometimes, we wander aimlessly in a wilderness of our own making, but God has better plans of us. And, whenever we ask Him to renew our strength and guide our steps, He does so.
Consider this day a new beginning. Consider it a fresh start, a renewed opportunity to serve your Creator with willing hands and a loving heart. Ask God to renew your sense of purpose as He guides your steps. Today is a glorious opportunity to serve God. Seize that opportunity while you can; tomorrow may indeed be too late.

The Hand Of God
From: New Life Daily Devotions - Steve Arterburn
Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
God’s love and support never changes. From the cradle to the grave, God has promised to give you the strength to meet any challenge.
God has promised to lift you up and guide your steps...if you let Him. God has promised that when you entrust your life to Him completely and without reservation, He will give you the courage to face any trial and the wisdom to live in His righteousness.
God’s hand uplifts those who turn their hearts and prayers to Him. Will you count yourself among that number? If you do, you can live courageously and optimistically, knowing that you have been forever touched by the loving, unfailing, uplifting hand of God.

Difficult But Necessary
From: New Life Daily Devotions - Steve Arterburn
Ephesians 4:32 "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."
It has been said that life is an exercise in forgiveness. And it should be added that forgiveness is an essential step in overcoming tough times.
When we have been injured or embarrassed, we feel the urge to strike back and to hurt the ones who have hurt us. But Christ instructs us to do otherwise. Christ teaches us that forgiveness is God’s way and that mercy is an integral part of God’s plan for our lives. In short, we are commanded to weave the thread of forgiveness into the very fabric of our lives.
When someone hurts you, the act of forgiveness is difficult, but necessary. Until you forgive, you are trapped in a prison of your own creation. But what if you have tried to forgive and simply can’t seem to do so? The solution to your dilemma is this: you simply must make forgiveness a higher priority in your life.
"To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." - C. S. Lewis

Always First
From: New Life Daily Devotions - Steve Arterburn
Mark 12:30 "You shall love the Lord your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength."
Do you take time each day to worship your Father in heaven, or do you wait until Sunday morning to praise Him for His blessings? The answer to this question will, in large part, determine the quality and direction of your spiritual life in good times and in turbulent times.
God’s Word makes it clear: we should offer our Creator the praise and worship He deserves—and we shouldn’t wait until Sunday morning to do so. Yet we live in a distraction-filled society that encourages us to make praise and worship a one-day-a-week activity.
Every day provides opportunities to put God where He belongs: at the center of our lives. When we do so, we worship Him not only with our words, but also with our deeds, and that’s as it should be. For believers, God comes first. Always first.

The Great Comeback
From: Our Daily Bread Ministries
Acts 4:13 "Observing the boldness of Peter and John (filled with the Holy Spirit) and perceiving them to be ordinary men, they were amazed, and they recognized them as the companions of Jesus."
Occasionally, we need a comeback. We need to correct wrong directions or compensate for wrong decisions. In those times, we have an example in Peter. He had failure written all over him. First, he nearly drowned when his faith faltered. (Matthew 14:30) Then he said things that were so wrong Jesus called him "Satan." (16:22-23). And when Jesus needed Peter the most, he denied that he even knew Him. (26:74)
But that’s not the end of the story. In the power of the Spirit, Peter made a comeback. On the Day of Pentecost, he preached and 3,000 people came to faith in Christ. (Acts 2:14,41) Peter returned to effectiveness because his faith was renewed, he guarded what he said, and he stood up for Jesus.
Struggling? If Peter can come back, so can you.

God's Purpose
From: InTouch Ministries
Romans 8:28 "God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
As a rule, people like security. We seek what is comfortable. Yet the reality of our world is that much instability exists. For example, finances, health, and even a country’s ability to survive are not guaranteed.
When our foundation is shaken, we often feel overwhelmed. Sometimes Satan causes the difficulty—with God’s permission, of course. At other times, challenging circumstances are brought about by the Lord’s hand. Regardless of the source, we have the promise that, "God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." And in either case, the Almighty’s purpose remains: to glorify Himself in our world and in our lives.
There are different reasons the Lord permits turmoil, but for now, let’s focus on one: He won’t allow anything that enables man to seem self-sufficient in his own eyes. Therefore, God may lovingly allow enough trouble for us to realize our need of Him. Sometimes we tend to think we’re able to manage without God. But out of love, He may stir up our lives to reveal our dependence upon Him.

He'll Transform Your Life
From: InTouch Ministries
Romans 12:2 "Do not conform yourself to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect."
The human mind is an amazing creation of God. Nothing on earth can match its capabilities or creativity. It controls feelings, thoughts, words, attitudes, and behavior. Who we become and what we achieve are largely due to how and what we think.
A clear mind is one that’s aligned with God’s Word and controlled by His Spirit. When the Lord has authority over our thoughts, discernment will guard our perspective. We can distinguish not just between right and wrong but also between good and best. The Lord has granted us the ability to think rightly no matter what challenges may face us.
Clear, focused thinking must be deliberately chosen and diligently maintained. Until you give God full authority over your thoughts, you’ll have no power to clear out the clutter that hinders you from living in the fullness of His will. But as you yield to Him and fill your mind with His Word, He’ll transform your life.

The Abundant Life
From: InTouch Ministries
1 Corinthians 2:12 "'Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct Him?' But we have the mind of Christ."
What does it mean that we have the mind of Christ? It does not mean that we know everything Christ knows. But when we enter into a relationship with God through Christ, we begin a process of transformation, in which we start thinking, feeling, and judging more and more like Christ (see Romans 12:2). This process is governed by God’s Spirit, who teaches us the ways of Christ.
The best life you could possibly live is the one your Creator has designed for you. If we are to experience the abundant life the Lord wants us to have, old thoughts that do not agree with God’s Word must be replaced with truth. Then we need to screen the ideas that bombard us each day. As we cooperate with God in this ongoing process, our lives will be transformed.
Compare your thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs with biblical teachings. If they don’t match, reject those patterns of thinking, and fill your mind with corresponding truths from Scripture instead. Since the Lord has empowered believers to think right, let’s cultivate the mind of Christ within us.

He Clarifies, Corrects And Confirms
From: Boyd Bailey Ministries
Psalm 25:9 "He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way."
A life sustained by the Lord is secure and at peace. Humility positions a person for provision from the Almighty, while pride invites exclusion from eternal resources. True sustainability stresses humble submission to God. It looks for the Lord’s leadership.
Humility is a prerequisite for people who desire to be guided by God. He searches for servants of His whose humility invites His involvement into their activities. It may mean what I thought was the right relationship, career path or financial plan—was not the Lord's will. He clarifies, corrects and confirms for His children. He sustains those who remain students of what's wise—and when wrong, they change before it creates a crisis.
God's track record of sustainability can be trusted. He sustains you during the sickness of your spouse. He sustains you in the middle of conflict and misunderstandings. He sustains your character in the aftermath of great accomplishments. He sustains your business and ministry by His grace. He sustains your faith when it comes under fire. His sustainability isn’t shaken. You can rest secure in the sustaining arms of Jesus!

Spiritual Ears
From: InTouch Ministries
1 Samuel 3:9 "... Speak Lord, for Your servant is listening."
For those who are willing to hear, God’s voice can be discerned through a variety of sources. The most obvious one is the Bible, but He can also call to us through the spoken or written words of other believers. He even speaks through circumstances and the wonders of His creation. I think we would all be amazed if we knew how many different ways our loving heavenly Father tries to get our attention.
He calls with a quiet voice that speaks into our hearts and minds. Although His words can be directed to a crowd, He has a specific, individualized message for each person. That’s why two people can hear the same sermon or read the same verses yet come away with two different applications of the message. God doesn’t dish out generalities; He communicates specific ideas meant just for you.
Busyness is a big hindrances to receptivity. When our lives are filled with the clamor of this world, God’s quiet voice can’t be heard. Even Christians can develop insensitive spiritual ears. Set aside time today to listen for His call, consider what He’s saying through your circumstances, and respond in gratitude because He delights to speak with you.

Trust God's Timing
From: New Life Daily Devotions - Steve Arterburn
Psalm 40:1 "I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry."
The Bible teaches us to trust God’s timing in all matters, but we are sorely tempted to do otherwise, especially when times are tough. When we are beset with problems, we are understandably anxious for a quick conclusion to our hardships. We know that our problems will end some day, but we want it to end NOW. God, however, works on His own timetable, and His schedule does not always coincide with ours.
God’s plans are perfect; ours most certainly are not. So we must learn to trust the Father in good times and hard times. No exceptions.
Elisabeth Elliot advised, "We must learn to move according to the timetable of the Timeless One, and to be at peace." And Billy Graham observed, "As we wait on God, He helps us use the winds of adversity to soar above our problems."
So today, as you face the uncertainties of everyday life, do your best to turn everything over to God. Whatever "it" is, He can handle it. And you can be sure that He will handle it when the time is right.

Attitude Determines Attitude
From: Joel Osteen Ministries
Philippians 2:5 "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus."
There’s an old saying "attitude determines altitude." In other words, a positive, faith-filled attitude will cause you to rise higher in life, but a negative, self-critical attitude will only drag you down.
When we face adversity, our attitude affects the outcome. Are we going to treat people right even when we’re being mistreated? Are we going to stay full of joy even when the bottom falls out? So many people get all bent out of shape and start complaining when things don’t go their way, but that kind of attitude only closes the door to God’s miracle-working power. The Bible says that faith is what pleases God. "Without faith it is impossible to please Him..." (Hebrews 11:6)
If you are going through a difficult time today, I encourage you to keep an attitude of faith. As you stand strong, I believe you’ll rise higher. I believe you’ll come out stronger and wiser, and you will continue moving forward in the abundant life God has for you!
