Joy In Doing God's Will

Psalm 40:8 "I take joy in doing Your will, my God, for Your instructions are written on my heart."

Jesus taught us to pray always for the will of God in our lives. So we should set our lives in the direction of knowing God’s will. We are told in 1 Peter 4:2 not to "spend the rest of [our] lives chasing your own desires, but to do the will of God." 

The very essence of the Christian life is doing God’s will. Jesus taught us to pray, "... Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10) 

So how do we know God’s will? The way I have discovered it is by studying the Bible, praying for the wisdom and direction of God, and taking steps of faith. Then I have found myself in the middle of His will. The Bible says, "The Lord directs the steps of the Godly. He delights in every detail of their lives." (Psalm 37:23)
